Striding Edge

Tuesday, 8 April 2008

Have I ever mentioned that if you want to see some seriously stunning photography of the Lake District, you could do a lot worse than to follow Striding Edge, the fellwalking diary of fellow Barrovian Sean McMahon. It’s also a good read, even diving into the archives, and better than any guidebook.

Sean tramps the fells regularly in all kinds of conditions, usually accompanied by the two bearded collies Angus and Casper, and sometimes by his wife Louise and daughter Connie. I’m admiring of the way he skips up those slopes and some very hairy rocks in next to no time and I’m utterly in awe of his photography – not the sort of admission I make lightly, as many of you will know!
