Thanks for dropping in, Jacob. You know this is a companion blog to "Barrow Day-by-Day" (aka "Pie and Mushies") don't you?

I've been neglecting the film diaries of late. I should get up to date with them but I now have such a backlog!

First of all, thank you for coming by Ocala DP!

Secondly, I am delighted to find your blog. All of a sudden I find I'm taken back 30-40 years to my "good old days."

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is not only a favorite of mine, but a powerful film and something of an indictment of mental health care...which made it all the more significant as my dad had recently gone through some "shock" treatments for depression. All of which left him, temporarily, at least, less able to function than before.

Best wishes!

One of the best translations from book to film that I have seen, I must agree.

A tremendous achievement, and has stuck with me ever since my parents let me see it at the age of six (the first of many viewings).

This and When the Wind Blows caused me a lot of worry when I was a youngster. A long way from Disney indeed!

Another one for my DVD list - thanks for the reminder! Some of the action was filmed at my brother's school I recall (a local grammar school, not a public school despite its aspirations to be like one!)

Well, I did wonder that myself. But apparently not. And it won the Best Original Screenplay oscar.

To be fair, wasn't it a play first? I find films that are made from a play often look "staged" or have limited locations.
